The fans of the early access roguelike game have already waited quite a lot for the Caves Awaken Part Two update, and now it is here, as promised. Below the stone combines the interesting features of cave exploration, mining, and combat. On top of those already mentioned features, the devs have now added new biomes, missions, and NPCs to the game which will enhance the immersion of the game further. 

As said by the developers, the game uses the drill mechanic similar to what is used in the famous games Deep Rock Galactic and Terraria, but with the new developer push, Below the Stone has established its own space with a top-down dungeon shifting game. In this, you get to become a little but headstrong dwarf who pushes through different cave systems, fights creatures who guard them, and collects resources and aims to break out with the goods. If the time limit elapses, you have a chance of losing everything, equipped or not.

The new Caves Awaken Part Two update introduces plenty of new additions that will definitely keep the players busy. The settlement has also received a redesign where players are able to craft custom houses for NPCs that will all aid in the expansion of your mining empire. There are story-based side quests as well, including recovering a lost drill pod and saving the town’s Alchemist who will be able to help in the following expeditions.

As one dives deeper into the potentially explosive biomes, players will need to deal with monstrous traps, monsters, and complex devices such as pressure plates, chest traps, and rolling boulders. Fortunately, new early-game items and an updated crafting system will help you deal with such obstacles. There’s also an updated battle mechanic which integrates dashes and stamina management systems meaning the battles are more tactical and interesting.

Skilled players can now in the Below the Stone pass the first layers and enter the effective second-layer dungeons if they meet the requirements, perfect for those who want some more difficulties.

Considering all these alterations and updates, Below the Stone is proving to be a unique roguelike game that is captivating and will immediately grab the players’ attention. The recent update has plenty of new content that is bound to appeal to both veteran miners and people who are entirely new to the game.
